<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding device having low coefficient of friction and excellent in durability, crevice corrosion resistance, etc., by composing one of sliding surface members of a specific phase containing specific amounts of Ni, Mo, Cr and Si and also composing the other of SiC etc. CONSTITUTION:In the sliding part between an irrotational member and a rotating part, which is to be invaded by sea water, one of the sliding surface members is formed of ceramic material such as SiC or Si3N4. The other sliding surface member sliding on the above ceramic sliding member is composed of an Ni-base alloy containing at least 45wt% of Ni, 20-40wt% of Mo and 8-22wt% of Cr as principal components and having an alloy structure consisting of >=10vol% hard phase containing <=12wt% Si and of <=90vol% soft matrix phase. In this way, the crevice between casing and impeller rings can be reduced to <=about 1/10 the conventional one, so that pump efficiency can be improved.</p> |
