The invention relates to a direct-current supply unit composed of a battery housing and a plurality of battery cells accommodated in it. A simple structure which can easily be extended is obtained by the battery cells being combined to form a wired-up battery block which is inserted into a hollow profile section whose cross-section and length are matched to the associated dimensions of the battery block, and by the hollow profile section being closed by means of covers.
