The used end of a travelling slurry filter band, from which collected cake has been dropped is cut transversely over the band wod)width by an inclined blade (11) mounted in a slot (10) inside a mobile slide (13). Mounted on the slide, at each side of the blade, are rollers (15, 16) which are spring loaded: to hold the moving band closely against a flat guide surface (9). Cutting force driven from a pistomides pressure cylinder (20) and is applied via a pin (17) held in the helical spring for pressuring the hold-down rollers. The unwinding filter band approaches the center vertically and the cut-off portion drop into a collecting transport container. ADVANTAGE - Cut band pieces are of convenient size and condition for transport and turnming.
