METAL CARRIER FOR CATALYST HAVING SUPERIOR THERMAL FATIGUE RESISTANCE

PURPOSE:To obtain a metal carrier withstanding fatigue by dividing a honeycomb body into both end parts and an intermediate part and joining the flat foil of the honeycomb body to the tops or valleys of the corrugated foil at the end parts and to the unjoined tops or valleys at the intermediate part. CONSTITUTION:A honeycomb body 1 is imaginarily divided into both end parts A, A and an intermediate part C. The flat foil 2 of the honeycomb body 1 is joined 6 to the tops 4 of the corrugated foil 3 at the end parts A, A and the flat foil 2 is joined 7 to the valleys 5 of the corrugated foil 3 at the intermediate part C. Thus, the flat foil is joined to the tops and valleys of the corrugated foil separately at the end parts and the intermediate part. A metal carrier having high bonding strength and superior thermal fatigue resistance is obtd.
