PURPOSE:To obtain macroparticles or single crystal by adding one or more kinds of elements selected from among Ti, Al, Ca and Si to chromium or incorporating Co together therewith in chromium and sintering this mixture and heat-treating the sintered body. CONSTITUTION:One or more kinds of elements selected from among Ti, Al, Ca and Si are added to chromium at 0.0002-0.1wt.% (expressed in terms of oxide). Furthermore Co is added to chromium at 0.01-3wt.% (expressed in terms of oxide). The mixture is sintered and molded to impart strain. This molding is heat-treated (secondary recrystallization) at 1300-1800 deg.C in a reductive atmosphere to afford macroparticles or single crystal of chromium.
