RECTANGULAR CROSS-SECTIONAL SHIELD ADVANCING EXCAVATOR

PURPOSE:To provide a shield advancing excavator for excavating a large- aperture rectangular cross-sectional tunnel which has a simple mechanical structure, high earth removal efficiency, and superior adaptability to pressure holding type and open type shields. CONSTITUTION:A partition wall 2 partitioning the inside of a lateral rectangular cross-sectional cylindrical skin plate 1 into a front chamber F and a rear chamber B is provided with an excavated soil exhaust port 3. A plurality of swing arms 4 penetrating the partition wall 2 are pivotally mounted. A cutter drum 6 rotated by a driving motor 5 is provided at the front end of the swing arms 4. Each swing arm 4 is oscillated each other by an oscillation driving cylinder 7 in the rear chamber B to excavate a rectangular cross-sectional tunnel corresponding to the cross section of the skin plate 1. This constitution reduces the outer diameter of the cutter drum to reduce adverse affect to a working face.
