PURPOSE:To obtain refractory material for a steel-manufacturing furnace which is capable of sufficiently exhibiting service life even under the severe operational conditions and of being used for lining of an RH device for degassing and for lining of the insides of AOD and VOD furnaces. CONSTITUTION:Refractory material for a steel-manufacturing furnace is constituted of a matrix of Al2O3-Cr2O3 material having a dense and fine structure and a second phase dispersed therein. The matrix contains controlled fine cracks. The second phase dispersed therein is formed of an aggregate consisting of the uniform mixture of both the matrix and unstable zirconia. The matrix consists of 100-40wt.% Al2O3 and 0-60wt.% CrCr2O3 and contains <=1.5wt.% TiO2. The second phase dispersed therein is the aggregate consisting of the uniform mixture of the matrix and unstable zirconia. The size of the aggregate is 10-200mum. The rate of the second phase occupied in the matrix is 10-35vol.%. The uniform aggregate is preferable wherein particle size of unstable zirconia in the second phase is 0.3-20mum and the rate of unstable zirconia in the second phase is 5-100vol.%. |
