PURPOSE: A duplex network management device of an asymmetric digital subscriber line system is provided to efficiently perform the management of a system by duplexing a network management device, and by enabling one ATU-M to take the place of another ATU-M in case that a fault is detected from another ATU-M. CONSTITUTION: A TV(700) displays a video on demand. A set-top box(600) transmits data operated by subscribers through a control channel to an ATU-R(500). In addition, the set-top box(600) transmits data on the video on demand to the subscribers. The ATU-R(500) transmits the data on the video on demand to the set-top box(600). An ATU-C(100A-3) transmits the data operated by the subscribers to a video on demand server(400) and the data on the video on demand to the ATU-R(500). The video on demand server(400) receives the data operated by the subscribers and processes relevant data on video on demand data. An ATU-M(100A-1) receives alarm and maintenance management signals from a plurality of ATU-C(100A-3). A management unit(200) connects and controls the ATU-M(100A-1).
