PURPOSE: To more satisfactorily transmit a signal through a channel of a dynamic range, limited at the time of the existence of additional noise by processing an analog input signal whose amplitude is varied in a wide range like sounds to reduce a ratio of minimum/maximum amplitude variations of an output signal to a square root of a ratio, which exists prior to the processing, after the processing. CONSTITUTION: An analog/digital converter 2 is included, which is arranged so as to change an input signal S to flows N1, N2, N3... of integers. Integers in flows represent instantaneous values of the input signal S divided by a reference voltage R in some proportional method. This reference voltage R is generated by a smoothed amplitude measuring instrument 4 in proportion to the amplitude of an output signal P, which is generated at the time when flows of integers are converted again into an analog signal waveform by a digital/analog converter 6. A signal of compressed amplitude variations is processed for the purpose of generating a signal of amplitude variations which is restored to a normal area as a square of a compressed area. |
