PURPOSE: To provide an ink jet head realizing certain purge operation by simple constitution and a control circuit, small in size and excellent in reliability. CONSTITUTION: In an ink jet head equipped with emitting orifices 5 emitting ink 2, ink passages 6 supplying the ink 2 to the emitting orifices 5 and the printing energy applying parts 7 arranged to the wall surfaces of the ink passages 6 applying energy for emitting the ink 2 from the emitting orifices 5, at least one or more purging heaters 9 are arranged to the wall surfaces of the ink passages 6 on the upstream side of the printing energy applying parts 7. Further, second ink passages 10 having a cross-sectional area larger than that of the ink passages 6 are provided on the upstream side of the printing energy applying parts 7 and the purging heaters 9 are arranged to the second ink passages 10. |
