PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector capable of eliminating troublesome adjusting work of the position detector and reducing the intensity of light to be irradiate toward an observer from a light emitting part and a head position follow type stereoscopic display having the device. SOLUTION: The position detector is provide with a CCD camera 52 to pick up an image of the observer 10, an infrared light LED arranged in the vicinity of the CCD camera 52, a reflection sheet 54 arranged on the rear side of the observer 10, a judging means 55 to judge which of a normal vision area or a reverse vision area and which of a first crosstalk area or a second crosstalk area the observer 10 is placed at, based on the image picked up by the CCD camera 52 and the reflection sheet 54 is constituted of a retroreflection member.
