The shotgun cartridge comprises a body with cylindrical wall and base portion with central opening (12) for primer. The case is made in one piece from injection-moulded plastic. A set of peripherally situated heels (18) is formed by grooves extending from the end plane of the base portion. A pair of concentric circular grooves (13,14) and radial grooves (15) connect the circular grooves. The grooves (15) have a extension in the axial direction of the case, of at least about 2/3 of the minimum axial material thickness of the base portion. The heels absorb the powder charge gas pressure and execute a translatory displacement in the axial direction of the case without the primer hole being deformed, so that leakage of powder charge gases through the primer hole and displacement of the primer itself are avoided. |
