PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability and to make it possible to well execute a high-density recording by making the thickness of magnetic layer have a specified value and disposing a primer coating layer which is large in the thickness including conductive powder and lubricant than the thickness of the magnetic layer between the respective magnetic layers and a substrate. SOLUTION: This magnetic disk is constituted by specifying the thickness of the magnetic layers formed on both front and rear surfaces of a substrate to 0.3 to 0.5μm and providing the disk with the primer coating layers which are larger in the thickness including the conductive powder and the lubricant than the thickness of the magnetic layer between the respective magnetic layers and the substrate. The magnetic layers formed via the primer coating layers on the both front and rear surfaces of the substrate are preferably specified to 0.3 to 0.5μm in such a manner that high-density recording is well executed. If the thickness is made larger than 0.5μm, degaussing loss increases and the high density recording is not well executed. If the thickness is made smaller than 0.3μm, the sufficient durability is not obtainable.
