The hydro-forming press has a frame (9) in which the hydro forming mould (5) is mounted. A mould screw (17) moves to abut the upper part of the mould (14) when it is closed and retracts into the frame when the mould is open. A fluid cylinder group (12) has the shafts engaging the lower face of the lower mould section (11) to hold the mould closed. The mould is opened and closed by a lower power cylinder assembly.
