Plasticizing and injection unit (1) is orientated horizontally. It is located with its nozzle between the moving (4) and fixed (5) platens. This places it inside the working space for mold installation. It is constructed as a carrier for one (or two separate) mold halves. Preferred Features: The unit is arranged on the upper fixed mold platen (5). Alternatively, it is positioned between upper and lower platens for vertical motion. It is raised and lowered by two or more pressure cylinders (21) supported on the upper, fixed mold platen. The unit includes two oppositely directed injection nozzles. Each discharges into the gate channel system of a mold half.
