PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely image a passenger who plays with an observation window by installing a camera on the upper part of the outside of the observation window and imaging the inside of a car through the observation window by the camera. SOLUTION: A glass-made observation surface 5 is formed in an elevator shaft 2 to watch a car 3 in the elevating passage 2 from the outside. The car is provided with a glass-made observation window formed in a position opposite to the observation surface 5. A crime prevention device 7 includes a camera 8 installed on the upper part of the outside of the observation window 6, a mirror 9 and a box 10 fixed to the car 3. The camera 8 images the inside of the car 3 through the observation window 6, and the photographed image is recorded in a video tape. By the crime prevention device 7, when a passenger does such a mischief or the like that the observation window 6 is broken, the face of the passenger can be imaged, whereby the passenge who did mischief can be easily specified.
