PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform conveyance and storage operation of articles of plural packing styles with a common stacker crane of a single system by using rack parts with different frontages for storing the articles of plural packing styles with different widths into a rack constituting the single system, and automatically adjusting an interval of right and left forks of the stacker crane in accordance with the frontages of the rack parts. SOLUTION: In this automated storage and retrieval system having a stacker crane and a rack 2 with a multiplicity of rack parts 1a and 1b provided in a row, the rack 2 is constituted by providing rack parts 1a and 1b with different frontages corresponding to each articles 4a and 4b of plural packing styles with different widths in a row, and the stacker crane is constituted so that an interval of right and left forks 10a and 10b is automatically adjustable and is provided with plural types of pallets 6a and 6b corresponding to the frontages of the rack parts 1a and 1b.
