PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LCD in which bubbles, particles or the like are not present between a color filter and a cover glass plate or a TFT substrate. SOLUTION: The LCD 30 comprises a laminated body 18 in a quadratic prism form consisting of a TFT substrate 12, a color filter 14 tightly adhered to the TFT substrate, and two cover glass plates 16A, B adhered to the opposite face of the TFT substrate to the color filter respectively, and a square cylindrical outer frame 32 housing the laminated body and having upper and lower openings. The outer frame has tapered side walls and has protruding parts 36 protruding inward of the outer frame which are formed on the four tapered inner walls 34 of the outer frame and nearly in contact with the cover glass plate.
