Vehicle dashboard display has a light source arranged behind one or more indicators with a display panel in front of the indicators. On the side of the panel facing the vehicle occupants is a frosted surface with surface markings for the various instrument displays. An Independent claim is made for a manufacturing method for a dashboard display in which instrument markings on a display panel are made with various surface structures. The surface markings can be created using laser or heat treatment or a combination. Alternately etching or painting can be used.
