PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problem that a picture display preprocessing device provided with a frame memory for storing inputted picture data before processing them by format transformation cannot effectively utilize the frame memory capacity because the bus width of a data I/O is partly not used when picture data with a bus width narrower than that of the data I/O of the frame memory is inputted. SOLUTION: The inputted picture data are temporarily stored in a 1st bus width conversion part 11, and thereafter the bus width of the data is converted into the bus width of the frame memory 12 and the data are outputted to the frame memory 12. Then, a CKE signal stops an internal operation of the frame memory and the invalid data generated then are not stored in the frame memory 12. The picture data stored in the frame memory 12 are read by a 2nd bus conversion part 13 without change in the converted bus width and temporarily stored, and then the bus width is restored into that of the original picture data.
