PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic ballast for a high intensity discharge lamp such as a HID lamp of a simple design structure that can give protection against short circuit and open circuit. SOLUTION: The electronic ballast comprises an inverter circuit and a lamp network of a resonance circuit and at least one ignition capacitor C2 , C0 is installed between the resonance circuit and the lamp.
