PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an electrification irregularity and an abnormal image and to maintain satisfactory image formation over a long period of time, by constituting so that voltage applied to an electrifying member during image non-formation, is overlapped with a DC voltage and an AC voltage and the AC voltage is periodically and repeatedly operated and stopped. SOLUTION: Residual transfer-toner which has reached an electrifying area n with the rotation of a photoreceptor drum 1 is taken on a magnetic-brush electrifying member 2 being a contact electrifying member, and it is changed into normally electrified toner by slide friction between it and an electrifying magnetic brush. An AC voltage is applied to the magnetic-brush electrifying member 2. That is, the AC voltage applied to the magnetic-brush electrifying member 2 during image non-formation after the residual toner is taken into the magnetic-brush electrifying member 2 and the sufficient negative electrification of the toner is performed, is decreased or stopped. In this case, the AC voltage is operated and stopped in a certain cycle, thereby the toner can be discharged while preventing separation of electrified carrier caused by the decrease of the alternating voltage or complete stop of it. |
