摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical control device and a practical control method for an internal combustion engine enabling to easily execute highly accurate engine control and determination of engine operation state with a light load. SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 burning mixture of fuel and air in each combustion chamber 3 to generate power is provided with an ECU 20 and a cylinder pressure sensor 15 provided in the combustion chamber 3 and detecting cylinder pressure. The ECU 20 calculates products of multiplications of cylinder pressure detected by the cylinder pressure sensor 15 and value of a predetermined index power of cylinder volume at a time of detection of pressure of the cylinder at predetermined two points, and calculates a control parameterγindicating heat quantity ratio of actual heat generation quantity to heat generation quantity at a time of perfect combustion based on fuel injection quantity and difference between the products of multiplications at the predetermined two points. The EUC 20 executes correction of fuel injection quantity in a rich operation mode, misfire determination, and irregularity determination of an injector using the control parameterγ.
