<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the simplification and the cost reduction by lessening the number of used elements as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: This power converter can have performance equivalent to that of a five-level rectifier, in such simple constitution that only switch elements Qu3 and Qx3 are added to a three-level rectifier where the first to fourth groups Du11 and 12, Du21 and 22, Dx11 and 12, and Dx21 and 22 are provided in series between the positive electrode (P) and the negative electrode (N) of a DC power source, and first groups Qu1 and Qu2 of switching elements are connected between the junction between the Du12 and Du21 and the neutral point of the DC power source, and also second groups Qx1 and Qx2 are connected between the junction between Dx12 and Dx21 and the neutral point of the DC power source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
