PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce ultrafine carbon particles at a low cost in such a state that the yield of fullerene is good, while avoiding the mixing of unnecessary metal. SOLUTION: A method for producing the ultrafine carbon particles comprises preparing a raw gas by mixing a combustible hydrocarbon gas, combustion supporting oxygen, and carbon dioxide for suppressing the reduction reaction of hydrogen produced from the combustible hydrocarbon gas in a gas mixing container 14 and subjecting the raw gas to a combustion reaction in a hermetically closed container 11.
