<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment for erasing recorded information of a rewritable label which can be adapted even to a state that a carrying velocity is increased in a physical distribution system recording and erasing information on and from the rewritable label provided on an article or a container for housing the article. <P>SOLUTION: The rewritable label 24 is provided on the article or the carrying case 25 for housing the article. In this method, warm air the temperature of which is controlled to be a recorded-information erasing temperature is blown toward the rewritable label 24 on which the recorded information is written during the movement of the carrying case 25 for housing the article. The recorded-information erasing equipment is used for performing the method. This enables a large amount of heat to be supplied to the rewritable label 24 in a short period of time, and enables the recorded information to quickly be erased, so as to enable an improvement in article carrying processing capacity. Additionally, the blowing of warm air can make the temperature of the label as high as or higher than a predetermined temperature by blowing the warm air against the label even if the accuracy of the passage position of the rewritable label 24 is not so high.
