<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gain control method and gain control apparatus in which an amplitude of an output audio signal can be prevented from being clipped and a signal processing effect is suppressed from being weakened. <P>SOLUTION: In a gain control method with which an audio signal is outputted after controlling its gain by applying signal processing to an input audio signal, masking characteristic of the audio signal to which signal processing has been applied are calculated, and regarding a frequency to be masked with the masking characteristics in the audio signal to which signal processing has been applied, gain control is performed for each frequency so as to cancel a difference between each of audio signals to which signal processing has been applied, at frequencies other than the frequency to be masked with the masking characteristics and the input audio signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
