PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact electric power steering device with sufficient mountability to a vehicle. SOLUTION: An intermediate shaft of a parallel axis gear mechanism 7 for decelerating rotation of an electric motor is integrally rotatably provided with a first intermediate gear 23 driven by a drive gear provided on an input shaft; and a second intermediate gear 24 for transmitting rotation to a driven gear provided on an output shaft. A tooth 231 of the first intermediate gear 23 and a tooth 241 of the second intermediate gear 24 are a shape twisted counterclockwise. An axial component F1 of reaction force F received from the drive gear by the first intermediate gear 23 and an axial component G1 of reaction force G received from the driven gear by the second intermediate gear 24 are directed in a direction opposite to each other.
