PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplifier capable of amplifying voltage signals out of bias voltages and the voltage signals which are inputted, an amplifying method, and a filter. SOLUTION: The amplifier is provided with a first variable capacitance element whose capacitance varies; a second variable capacitance element which is electrically connected to the first variable capacitance element and has conductivity opposite to that of the first variable capacitance element and whose capacitance varies; and a first input section for selectively inputting bias voltages and voltage signals to the first variable capacitance element and the second variable capacitance element. In the case of inputting the bias voltages and the voltage signals to the first variable capacitance element and the second variable capacitance element, the capacitance of the first variable capacitance element and the capacitance of the second variable capacitance element are set at first values, the capacitance of the first variable capacitance element and the capacitance of the second variable capacitance element are set at second values which are smaller than the first values, and the voltage signals are amplified.
