PURPOSE: A laser joining method and an apparatus for joining a workpiece made of plastic or plastic to other materials are provided to achieve precise coupling between a plastic workpiece and other plastic workpiece or other material with a shortest joining seam distance. CONSTITUTION: In a method and an apparatus for joining plastics or plastic to other materials by laser, the plastics are contacted each other by pressure, a workpiece most adjacent to a laser beam supply source(1) is projected with the laser beams(2) on the whole, and a second workpiece absorbs the laser beams as possible. Linear laser beams are generated to the contact surfaces(7) between the workpieces so that the workpieces are precisely coupled only at a desired joining portion(6) by a relative movement of the laser beams with relation to the workpieces according to a desired joining seam structure. |
