PURPOSE:To perform the optical recording and reproducing of high density with a magneto-optical disk, etc., by generating the multibeam of a short wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The beam of a prescribed wavelength is excited in a laser medium 3 by that the beam from an exciting light source 2 is made incident. The semiconductor laser of a type of emitting the beam having high power and of a slender beam sectional shape is used for the exciting light source 2 and the beam of a prescribed wavelength excited in the laser medium 3 becomes the multibeam of high power since plural pieces of projecting spherical shape parts 31a to 31n are formed on one side end surface B of the laser medium 3 so as to be parallel to the activated layer of the semiconductor laser. In such a case, by providing a nonlinear optical medium generating the beam having a shorter wavelength based on the beam excited by the laser medium 3 further, the multibeam having a short wavelength and high power is outputted from the nonlinear optical medium. |
