PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation of current collecting capability of an active material to improve a cycle life characteristic by providing one or more positive electrode active materials selected from a group comprising nickel oxyhydroxide, lithium-containing nickel oxyhydroxide, and a derivative of nickel oxyhydroxide, by using a rectangular solid or cubic type battery case and by laminating an electrode plate group. SOLUTION: One or more kinds of compounds selected from a group comprising nickel oxyhydroxide, lithium-containing nickel oxyhydroxide, a derivative of nickel oxyhydroxide, and a derivative of lithium containing nickel oxyhydroxide are used as positive electrode active materials. A battery case is formed into a rectangular solid shape or a cubic shape, an electrode plate group is not a wound type, but a lamination type, either a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate has a shape wrapped by a separator. Thereby, the positive electrode plate is brought into a uniformly pressed state, so that the degradation of current collecting capability of the positive electrode plate due to volume variation of nickel oxyhydroxide in a charge-discharge process can be restrained. |
