The invention relates to a method for determining the risk of development of cervical carcinoma or one of its malignant precursors in a human or animal using a sample of the living being. According to the invention, it is determined in the sample whether at least one or more of the genes, which are selected from the first group consisting of ASTN1, DLX1 and ZNF671, are methylated, wherein the risk of development of cervical carcinoma or one of its malignant precursors in the living being exists when a methylation of at least one of the genes of the first group is present in the sample or when a methylation of at least one of the genes of the first group cannot be excluded. |
