A member 1 having two side walls 5 and a transverse wall 4 is pivotally attached to a camera objective so that it acts in one position as a cap (Fig. 2, not shown), and in a second position (Fig. 1) as a partial lens hood or "sunshade". As shown, the housing 2 of the objective is of square section. On each of its outer faces it has a recess 9 opening into a deeper recess 10. In recess 10 moves a slider 11 having raised end bosses 13. A screw 14, attached to the centre of slider 11, extends through a slot 18 in side wall 5. A spring 16, pivoted at 17 to the objective housing, engages against the lower of the bosses 13, always tending to urge the slider downwards. Thus the member 1 is spring-urged firmly against the front of the housing in the "cap" position of Fig. 2, or firmly against the top surface 7 of the housing in the "shade" position (Fig. 1). In this latter position, it is prevented from rearward movement by a pin 19. This pin can be retracted into the housing, allowing member 1 to be slidden backwards when a shade is not required.</p> |
