An expansible insert comprises a cylindrical body having a screwthreaded end for attachment of an extraneous threaded member, is provided with a transverse bore 12 at right-angles to the axis of the body, the axis of the bore being spaced from the end face 13 at a distance less than the length of the radius of the bore so as to form two parallel edges 14 of said end face, there being provided a frusto-conical plug connected to the edges 14 by thin wallpieces 17 which are frangible. The screw-threaded end of the body may comprise a threaded stud 11 or an interior stud threading. In a modification, the plug has a frustoconical portion similar to the plug 16 and a cylindrical portion in continuation of the foot end of the plug. |
