Unfinished hulled rice is heated with stirring in an acedic liquid at a pressure in excess of two atmospheres, the liquid is then neutralised by the addition of an alkaline solution, and the product is dried and ground. The acidic liquid may be phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, or glycerophosphoric acid. The alkaline liquid may be a solution of sodium hydroxide, carbonate, or bicarbonate. |
