A.C. generator 1 embodying a generator-compounding 3 pH. current transformer 11 of which the primary winding 5 carries the generator output current and the secondary winding 4 is connected between the generator output circuit and a rectifier 6 feeding the generator field winding 3, the transformer is constituted by the stator and stationary " rotor " of a stationary induction machine of which bearings supporting the " rotor " permit the latter to be both angularly and axially adjusted relatively to the stator. The transformer is attached, Fig. 2 (not shown), coaxially to one of the generator bearing plates and its " rotor " shaft carries a slotted sector plate engaged by a bolt and nuts which permit the two adjustments, of the on-load and noload excitation components respectively. The transformer windings 4, 5 are in slots in laminated cones 10, 9 separated by an air gap 8. |
