1,223,237. Engine balancing. K. ISHIDA. 10 July, 1969 [16 July, 1968 (2)], No. 34823/69. Heading F2U. A reciprocating engine is balanced by providing a linearly reciprocating connecting rod 1 connected to an eccentric 5 geared to the crankshaft 4 so that they rotate at equal and opposite speeds, the webs of the eccentric carrying balance masses W 4 , W 5 and the crank webs carrying further masses W 6 , W 7 , the magnitudes of the masses, their radial positioning and lateral disposition in relation to connecting rod 1 satisfying stated equations. In the arrangement shown eccentric 5 drives crank-shaft 4 through eccentric pinions 16, 19 and spur pinions 20, 21, 13, and in a second form, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown) through an epicyclic gear (26, 27). |
