A press for cutting blanks from a pile 2 of sheets supported on a table 1 comprises a cutting die 14 and a passage 19 communicating with the space 22 inside the die and connected to vacuum, by which the cut blanks are held in the die, means being provided for breaking the vacuum to discharge the blanks on to a delivery table 25. The die is secured to a plate 11 rotatably mounted with respect to a plate 10 secured to a piston 8 in a cylinder 6 carried by a slide 5. Operating in the piston 8 is a piston 16 having an ejector plate 17 to press the blanks out of the die. The plate 10 carries a rod 23 co-operable with a switch 24 to cut off the vacuum. The table 25 is movable along guides 26 from a remote position to a position under the die and has an endless conveyer 27, the driving means of which is operable by a switch (28), Fig. 3 (not shown) when the table reaches its remote position. |
