[Also in Divisions B5 and C3] A vinyl chloride polymer substrate is coated with a layer of an ultra-violet absorbent colourless linear polyester of molecular weight 5000-200,000 derived from at least one compound having at least two phenolic OH groups and at least one position ortho to an OH group unsubstituted and at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid, applied from solution in an organic solvent of b.p. 40-200‹C. In Examples PVC panels and rigid sheets are coated with toluene solutions of polyesters from terephthalic/isophthalic acid chloride mixture and 2:2-diphenylol-4-methylpentane, 2:2-diphenylol-propane or 2:2-diphenylol butane Œ resorcinol. |
