Novel esters of thiamphenicol of the formula where R is an aliphatic radial containing 13 to 17 carbon atoms are prepared by reacting thiamphenicol with a compound of the formula R-COX where X is OH, O-CO-R, Cl, Br or O.COOC 2 H 5 . Therapeatic compositions, having antibiotic activity and suitable for oral administration contain the above novel esters and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers and diluents. |
