THmn, at the cross-points of a matrix are selectively rendered conductive when the selection potentials are applied to the row and column wires appropriate to the rectifier to be selected. In the embodiment described, in which the gate electrode of each thyristor is connected to the cathode of a decoupling diode DD, the cathode and anode of each thyristor being respectively connected to a row and column wire, all setting switches S and T are open and all resetting switches R are closed at the beginning of a matrix scan. On opening switch R1, all thyristors in row 1 are rendered non-conductive and setting switch S1 is closed to prepare the row. Selected ones of the switches T1-Tn may then be sequentially or simultaneously closed to render conductive the associated thyristors in row 1 and light the associated lamps. The remaining rows of thyristors are then sequentially selected. |
