Continuous drying apparatus is used for drying during production of particulate or granulated, structured moulding materials, such as thermoplastic, elastomers and in partic. thermosetting plastics, and for pre-heating and pre-plasticising these moulding materials in a HF field. It consists of a double-walled tubular or trough-shaped vessel. The vessel is fitted with a rotary worm-drive, with adjustable drive. The drive shaft is coated with a ceramic material or a reinforced platic, such as polyethylene, polypropylene or PTFE etc. that is suitable for HF insulation. The worm-windings are made of such materials. The hollow shaft has bore-holes through which gas can be fed and flowed through the material carried by the worm-drive. The material is simultaneously located in a HF field that is formed between the vessel and shaft.
