[Also in Division H2] An interconnecting wiring assembly is formed from a network of bare wires by bonding wires together at selected crossing points and then treating the wires so as to produce an insulating surface layer which insulates the wires from each other at the other crossing points. The assembly may be formed from a woven mat of wires of aluminium, tantalum or titanium welded together at selected points 4 and then anodized to produce the insulating layers and, if desired, treated to seal the anodized surface. Connections 8 may be made to all unused wires from the outer horizontal wires, and wires 6 may be cut where required. Apertures 7 may be formed in which semi-conductor integrated circuits 1, thin film circuits or the like may be located, the connections being made by ultrasonic welding or after removing the anodized film, and the whole assembly constituting, e.g. a shift register. The circuit elements may be connected into the mat before anodization and then masked during the anodizing treatment, and the assembly may be corrugated and potted in an insulating resin. The circuit elements may be arranged to one side of, rather than between, the longitudinal conductors. |
