A rotary cutting tool comprises a cutter 3, Fig. 1, pivoted eccentrically so that, in one direction of rotation it is inoperative, and in the opposite direction it is projected to a cutting position. The tool can countersink the rear of a through-bore in a workpiece. The cutter 3 is secured by a conically-ended pin 5, which determines the play of the cutter, the pin being clamped by a screw 6. The cutter has a carbide insert 3b and the tool has a bearing surface 7 of carbide. In a modification, two cutters 13, Fig. 4. are pressed outwardly by springs 19. In a further modification, each cutter 13, Figs. 6 and 7 (hot shown), has an extension 13d which engages the bore in the workpiece and prevents movement of the cutter to an inoperative position. The tool may be moved radially to act as a milling-cutter. |
