A bolt with an angled face is placed at the end of the seam to be welded between the 0.5 mm thick plates. When the welding head reaches the end of the seam the head is deflected and the molten metal allowed to continue under its own volition to complete the seam. The weld is not damaged by molten metal being dispersed at the end of the weld.
