The circuit consists of two n p n transistors with common bases and collectors, the circuit can operate as an alternating current switch. Under other suitable circumstances the same circuit can operate as a variable resistance controlled by a direct voltage. This circuit is implemented in integrated circuit form on a p type substrate with common collector and base deposited as single entities. The terminals are attached to the top of the device and connect to n+type bars embedded in a p matrix to form the separate emitters. The p matrix is the common base and is connected to a control network via a third terminal.
