The fast changeover of rolls mounted in their mountings, which may be part of a single or a multiple roll stand, is effected through side openings in the stand in which they are fitted, to an installation located in front of the fitting side of the roll stands. - This consists of turntables, slides, etc. which are displaceable at right angles relative to the roll axes and are fitted with two support surfaces for the roll sets. - The displaceable stages carrying the rolls are linked in the correct spacing by flaps in the horizontal position, the flaps being capable of being swivelled into the vertical. - The stages can be moved along sections which are themselves displaceable, being constructed so as to form undercarriages for the stages. - Movement is effected by hydraulic cylinders.
