Catalytic isotope exchange - between gas and liquid for lower plant and operating costs

In isotope exchange by H2-D2 system between gas and liquid in presence of exchange catalyst, catalyst is circulated by subjecting all liquid used in exchange and containing catalyst to isotope exchange with vapour of liquid and then recycling liquid containing catalyst coming from this exchange. Plant costs are lower, since degassing plant for liquid NH3 and evaporator are saved. Operating costs are reduced catalyst efficiency is improved and volume of liquid NH3 and amount of catalyst are reduced. Same D2 concentration is achieved in smaller volume and there is more rapid attainment of equilibrium and lower loss during purification.
