<p>1305451 Brake discs; cooling disc brakes W BUSCH and H FRIEDERICHS 12 Feb 1970 [13 Feb 1969] 6761/70 Heading F2E A railway wheel 11 has two brake rings 16 attached thereto, each ring 16 having tenons 19 for location in respective mortises formed between inwardly extending jaws 22 of respective segments 20 attached to the wheel 11, with a radial clamping peg 25 being accommodated in aligned bores 23, 24 in each segment 20 and the respective tenon 19, the segments 20 being located by centring surfaces 14, 15 of the wheel rim 12. The jaws 22 extend as far as inner diameter 27 of the respective brake ring 16 but there is a clearance 29 between the periphery 28 of each brake ring 16 and the confronting surface of the outer portion 21 of each segment 20. The clamping peg 25 is held in position by a securing wedge 26 and each segment 20 is attached to the wheel 11 by a bolt 30 and two dowels 31. One or more centring lobes 33 are formed on each segment 20. Also the inner side of each brake ring 16 is formed with ribs 17 defining radially extending cooling air passages and formed integrally with certain of the ribs 17 are abutment bosses 18 which with abutment surfaces on the wheel 11 locate the ring 16 in the axial direction.</p> |
